Founder's Story
When We Know Better, We Do Better
No one is ever fully prepared for the unexpected. Life is about choices, and as young
people we often make critical life decisions based on lack of knowledge and not having
the right tools to equip us in making wise choices. I founded this organization to bridge
the gap, helping the next generation avoid costly mistakes and start their financial journey
with confidence. At the age of 21, a single moment changed my perspective. During my
workplace benefits enrollment period, I declined supplemental insurances like Short
Term Disability and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) because I didn’t
understand their value. 3 weeks later after enrollment ended, I was the victim of a hit-and
-run at 52nd & Baltimore in West Philadelphia. While my injuries weren’t life-threatening,
the ending result came with financial strain and burden which was very overwhelming,
but entirely avoidable had I chosen the proper coverages.
This experience confirms a systemic lack of guidance for young workers. GRWN is here
to help change that. We want to empower those transitioning from school to the
workforce with essential financial understanding often missed in traditional education.
Our goal is to help educate the up-and -coming generations with as much knowledge so
they can make informed and confident decisions for their career and personal finances.
